At Prizee, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our platform and services.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, date of birth, profile photo, and authentication credentials. If you sign up via a third-party provider (Google, Apple), we receive basic profile data from that provider.

Location Data

We collect your real-time location only during active treasure hunts to enable gameplay. Location is not tracked when you're not actively playing.

Payment Information

Payments on the web and Android are processed through Stripe. Payments on iOS are processed through Apple In-App Purchase. We do not store your full credit card details. We may receive transaction IDs, amounts, and purchase history.

Identity Verification

For creators and prize withdrawals, we may collect a government-issued photo ID and a selfie for identity verification. These images are encrypted, stored securely, and deleted within 90 days after successful verification. Failed verification documents are deleted within 30 days.

Usage Data

We collect data about how you use the platform, including hunts participated in, prizes won, and interactions with other features.

Device Information

We collect device identifiers, browser type, operating system, and screen resolution for security and fraud prevention purposes, such as detecting multiple accounts. This information is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Analytics Data

We collect anonymized analytics events (such as sign-ins, purchases, and feature usage) to improve platform performance and user experience. This data is not shared with third-party advertisers.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the treasure hunt experience, including real-time game features and prize distribution.
• To verify your age and identity as required by law.
• To process prize payouts securely through our payment partners.
• To send you important notifications about hunts you've joined, prizes, and account updates.
• To improve our platform, fix bugs, and develop new features based on aggregated usage patterns.
• To prevent fraud, cheating, and ensure fair gameplay for all participants.

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Public Profile

Your display name, profile photo, and game stats are visible to other users.

Service Providers

We share limited data with trusted partners to operate our services:

• Firebase (Google) — Authentication, database, cloud functions, and hosting.
• Stripe — Payment processing on web and Android, and creator payouts.
• Apple — In-App Purchase processing on iOS.
• Mapbox — Map rendering and geocoding.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect the safety and rights of our users.

4. Location Privacy

• Your precise location is only used during active treasure hunts to calculate distance to the treasure.
• Your exact location is never shared with other players. Only zone proximity indicators are shown.
• You can revoke location permissions at any time through your device or browser settings. Some gameplay features require location to function.

5. Data Security & Retention

• We use industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL) to protect your data in transit and at rest.
• Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel only.
• We implement rate limiting, anomaly detection, and monitoring to prevent unauthorized access.

Data Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. After account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymized gameplay statistics may be retained for analytics.

Identity Verification Data

Government ID images and selfies submitted for verification are encrypted and automatically deleted within 90 days after successful verification. Failed verification documents are deleted within 30 days.

6. Your Rights

• Access & Export — You can view and export your personal data at any time from your profile settings.
• Deletion — You can request complete deletion of your account and all associated data through Settings. Deletion is completed within 30 days.
• Correction — You can update your personal information at any time through your profile settings.
• Opt Out — You can manage your notification preferences and marketing communications in settings.
• Data Portability — You may request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format by contacting contact@prizee.app.

7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

• If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request its deletion, and opt out of any sale of personal information.
• We do not sell your personal information. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than those permitted under the CCPA.
• To exercise your CCPA rights, contact us at contact@prizee.app. We will respond within 45 days.
• We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.

8. Children's Privacy

Prizee is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. We verify age during account creation. If we discover that a user is under 18, we will promptly delete their account and associated data. If you believe a minor has created an account, please report it to contact@prizee.app.

9. Cookies & Local Storage

Prizee uses browser local storage and session storage to maintain your login session, theme preference, and notification dismissal state. We do not use third-party tracking cookies. Firebase may use cookies for authentication purposes.

10. Apple & Third-Party Platforms

• Purchases made through Apple In-App Purchase are subject to Apple's privacy policy and terms.
• Apple may collect transaction data related to in-app purchases. Prizee does not have access to your Apple payment details.
• Apple is not responsible for the privacy practices of Prizee. Any privacy-related inquiries should be directed to Prizee, not Apple.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or email. Continued use of Prizee after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
